Barbarian Review
Barbarian is movie directed by Zach Cregger, which debuted in 2022. This movie follows Tess, Keith, and AJ as our three main characters. Tess and Keith book the same Airbnb due to a technology error, and AJ is the one who owns the property. AJ gets a call that he is being fired from his line of work and decides to pay his Airbnb a visit so he can sell it and pocket as much money as possible. Tess and Keith are already booked in the Airbnb and during their time there they get locked inside the basement. Tess and Keith eventually run into a monster that ends of taking Keith further into the basement. Tess runs and eventually runs into AJ who is attempting to cleanup the property for selling. She begs him to come with her so they can go save Keith. Tess and AJ head back into the basement only to find out more horrid truths about the house they are staying in.
You honestly could not have predicted the outcome of this movie, it was something almost so far out of left field that it leaves the viewer with their jaws on the floor. The jump scares were decent but the outfit for the monster was insane. A big gripe I had with this one was how bad the acting was from the central three characters, Keith is honestly the only exception because Bill Skarsgard has talent. I believe that a lot of the reactions and lines from those two characters could've been better. I also the progression of the plot was puzzling since a lot of the progression came out left field.
All in all it was a fun and exhilarating watch that will for sure keep the viewer, however I cannot ignore the poor plot progression and the randomness found in the plot. The acting was again not the greatest, but the scare factor was real. I rate this movie a 4 out of 10.
